Surprise Me, Silly is a gift finder operated by Tall-e (KVK 42029043). This policy explains what personal data the service processes, why, and the choices you have.
Overview
The service works without an account, sign-up, or email address. Your chat is not stored. The only tracking is optional analytics, which stay off until you accept them and can be changed at any time.
Your gift chat
To find gifts, the messages you type are sent to Anthropic (the makers of the Claude AI) and used only to generate your suggestions. Under Anthropic's commercial API terms, your messages are not used to train their AI models. We do not keep the conversation on our servers; it lives in your browser between the chat and the results and disappears when you close the tab.
Anonymous usage statistics
We use Vercel Web Analytics to measure page views and clicks. It uses no cookies and no identifiers, builds no profile of you, and requires no consent.
Optional analytics (only with your consent)
If you accept in the cookie banner, we also use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to understand how the site is used so we can improve it. These set cookies, may record anonymised session activity and heatmaps, and send data to Google and Microsoft, including to servers outside the EU (such as the United States). They stay off unless you accept, and you can withdraw at any time via “Cookie settings” in the footer.
Cookies
We set no non-essential cookies unless you accept analytics. If you do, Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity set their own cookies (for example _ga, _clck and _clsk) to measure usage. Declining, or later withdrawing consent, means these are not set.
Links to other sites
When you choose a gift, we link out to third-party shops such as Amazon and Etsy. Those sites have their own privacy policies and cookies, which we do not control. Some of our links carry an affiliate tag so the retailer knows the visit came from us and we may earn a small commission; this never changes the price you pay.
How long data is kept
We do not keep your chat, and the anonymous statistics hold no personal profile. If you consent to optional analytics, the data is retained for a limited period, typically up to 14 months for Google Analytics and around one year for Microsoft Clarity, after which it is deleted.
Legal basis
We run the gift finder and the anonymous usage statistics on the basis of our legitimate interest in providing and improving the service. Optional analytics run only on the basis of your consent.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict your personal data, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise these rights, email privacy@tall-e.nl. You may also lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
